Chan Zuckerberg Initiative
Working with talented Bay Area artists, we created a series of site-specific pieces for the CZI offices in Redwood City.
The Chan Zuckerberg Initiative uses technology to help solve some of our toughest challenges—from preventing and eradicating disease, to improving learning experiences for kids, to reforming the criminal justice system. Founded in 2015, CZI’s mission is to build a more inclusive, just, and healthy future for everyone.
Project Overview
“Bring the offices to life,” they said. And so, with a team of talented artists, we created a series of site-specific pieces for the CZI offices in Redwood City. The goal was to help employees feel invested in CZI’s key initiatives, and culturally connected to the community they serve.
Using sumi ink, Carissa Potter created thoughtful profiles of the formerly incarcerated, including powerful quotes that they shared with CZI.
Heather Hardison and Ashley Fundora painted the wall in one of the main entrances, creating a vibrant eco-system, to highlight CZI’s Whole Child approach to education. The mural included moveable wooden plaques to honor the programs that receive education grants each year.
Fabricated by Cyrcle, a lenticular display with type that shifts depending on where the viewer is standing. Perspective is key.
Local Bay Area artist collaborators include: Heather Hardison and Ashley Fundora, Carissa Potter, Aaron De La Cruz, CYRCLE, Jerome Reyes, Jocelyn Tsaih, Katie Benn, Masako Miki and Miguel Arzabe.
“Each installation illustrates the tangible impact CZI employees have in our community.”
